Christmas 2008

We had a very busy Christmas season this year! Jason and I made sure to include the boys in as much of the preparation as we could (decorating the house - inside & out, decorating the tree, baking Christmas goodies for family & friends, & even helping wrap the presents).
At times, we experienced a bit of commotion with all the "help", but it certainly was well worth it. I can't tell you how many times we had to take a step back from the current project and recite one of our family popular mottoes, "We will remain cool, calm & collected"!
We hope you enjoy the following posts!

Christmas Day

The boys woke up early Christmas morning and had a lot of fun playing with the toys Santa had brought them. We didn't get to spend a lot of time hanging around the house because we had planned to got to 9:00 am mass.

After mass we came home and got comfortable. Family started arriving at our house around two in the afternoon. This was the first time we had both sides of the family at our house for Christmas Day! It turned out to be a lot of fun and I plan on continuing the tradition for the upcoming years.

Here are some pictures that were taken throughout the day!

How many Jaunets does it take to open a Christmas present?

Britney always gets a new bed and a fresh bone for Christmas!

As you can see...Britney LOVES her bed!
And so does Michael and Christian!

Christmas Eve

The boys love going to Maw Maw and Paw Paw's house to visit, but Christmas time is especially fun because they get to play with Maw Maw's Nutcracker! I think this nutcracker has become part of the family. I am really considering getting one for our house because the boys love it so much.

Notice the cheese around Christian mouth...he loves Cheetos and must have eaten the entire bag. He was even kind enough to share his Cheetos with the Nutcracker!

Miracle on Fulton Street

We made our annual trip to Miracle on Fulton Street this year. Christian wasn't feeling well that day so Jason and I just brought Michael. Aunt Shell, Uncle Johnny and Lesley decided to join us downtown for the Christmas outing. We had a nice dinner together, had fun on Fulton Street, and even enjoyed some fireworks on the Mississippi River.

We knew that Santa would be under the big, white tent on Fulton Street this year, but we had no idea that we would be able to see his reindeer too! Comit and Cupid were right outside the tent enjoying some reindeer food. Michael couldn't get over this! The look on his face was absolutely priceless!

Uncle Johnny's Christmas Party

Johnny and Lesley have been good friends of ours for years. In fact, Uncle Johnny and Jason went to high school together many years ago. Both Michael and Christian absolutely love their Uncle Johnny and have a great time whenever he is around.

This was the fist year Uncle Johnny had a Christmas party at his house. We all had a great time! But the best part was when Santa showed up to say "hello"!

Michael's School Christmas Party

The following are pictures from Michael's school Christmas party. Both Ms. Laura and Ms. Kim did such a great job with all the children. Each time I go to the school for a function I am amazed at their patience, imagination and overall dedication to the kids.

Michael sat on Santa's lap and told him what he wanted for Christmas.

Here the children are signing some of the new Christmas songs they learned this year!

The children were able to decorate the own Christmas sugar cookies...it didn't turn out to be as messy as I had anticipated.

This is the school's Christmas tree, which is located in the main hallway. All of the children who attend school make a special ornament to hang on the tree. I was able to locate Christian's ornament without any trouble because it had a picture of him on it. Michael's ornament, on the other hand, was a bit difficult to find. There were too many Michael J. for me to figure out which one he made.

It Snowed in New Orleans!

It actually snowed in New Orleans! I think I was more excited about the snow that anyone else in the family. Jason kept thinking about having to dry in it, and Michael and Christian just looked outside with a look of disbelief. Even Britney Marie was a bit hesitant at first.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We spent Thanksgiving Day with the Jaunets and at night we ended up at my Mom and Dad's house. Michael thought it was cool that we were going to have two "Thanksgiving feasts"!
